Another year and another trip back to the old continent. This time it will be a visit to Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. It lies on the western Mediterranean coast in northeast Spain. I’ll leave San Diego tonight for London and change planes at Heathrow for a flight to Barcleona. Five nights in Barcelona before proceding to southern France.
First a stop is Carcassonne in the Languedoc-Rousillon province. It is the site of the largest exisitng castle and fortress in all of Europe and a world heritage site. Another world heritage site, the canal duMidi, also goes right through Carcassonne. Then onto Provence and Avignon, once home to the Popes. Four nights in Avignon will allow me to travel around Provence and get some day trips to Arles, Nîmes, Pont du Gard and others.
After that it is onto Aix-en-Procence for two nights and finishing up in Nice, the heart of the French Riviera before heading home. I’ll fly out of Nice to London and then catch the non flight back home to San Diego.
Another adventure awaits.
